RCPRO Warbird 80 Racing - Rules

Pilot Qualifications
Pilots must show proof of being current members of the AMA.
Unsportsmanlike conduct by a pilot, caller, or crewmember is grounds for the pilot’s disqualification from the event.
Scale Requirements
The only models qualified to be entered in a RCPRO Warbird 80 event must be scale models replicating heavier than air, fixed wing,
propeller driven, man carrying, military aircraft that were in production after January 1, 1937,
or scale models of non-military aircraft that have raced in the unlimited category of the Reno or Mojave Air Races
or in an unlimited air race affiliated with the Unlimited Air Racing Association.
To "have raced" means that the aircraft must have crossed the starting line while participating in an official heat.
Civilian markings, paint schemes, & modifications to military aircraft are allowed.
Civilian aircraft that were not designed for, but can be documented and were used by the military, will be allowed.
All models must have a full fuselage, no profiles allowed.
If you have any question as to whether your particular airframe will qualify for warbird racing,
please contact the Contest Director prior to bringing it to the event.
Airframe Regulations
- The minimum wingspan will be 80 inches.
- The minimum wing thickness at some point outboard of the fuselage will be 2 inches.
- The minimum wing area will be 1100 square inches.
- Manufacturer's documentation may be provided as long as the wing has not been modified.
- The minimum fuselage width shall be 5".
- The minimum height of the fuselage at some point other than at the fin/rudder shall be 10".
- Control surface servos must provide at least 80 ounces of torque.
- Minimum ready to fly weight is fourteen (14.0) pounds (6.35 kg)
- Maximum ready to fly weight is twent four (24.0) pounds (10.87 kg)
Propulsion System Regulations
- Engines will be gas or glow 2 stroke or 4 stroke of 131.1cc (8.0 c.i.) maximum displacement or less.
- Engines may be single or twin cylinder.
- Engines may be modified except for increasing displacement.
- Engines may have aftermarket mufflers, tuned pipes, or velocity stacks.
- Any size of prop may be used and props may be modified.
- Any type of fuel system may be used.
- Contestants must provide their own fuel which may only contain any AMA legal ingredients.
- Engines must be able to idle at 3500 RPM or below.
- Electric propulsion may be used.
- Total battery weight may not exceed five (5.0 pounds) (2.68 kg).
Courses and Procedures to be used
- 700' 2 pole course. Same layout as RCPRO Warbird Racing with runway to pylon distances inreased 125 feet.
- Takeoffs will be staggered.
- A flying start with a timed countdown will be used on all courses.
Declared Racing Class Breakout Times:
The following breakout times will be used in the fixed-bracket racing format. There are no adjustments to these breakout times.
